On one hand, yes I understand it's historical significance and can lament the loss of what is essentially a living record of skilled artisans and craftsmen (as a hobbyist woodworker I'm shedding a tear for all that old growth), but on the other hand shit happens and the fire has now become part of the buildings history. Whatever skilled artisans and craftsmen they find to rebuild it will be creating a new part of history.
If it's an attack of some kind, of course it is to be abhorred, I know they were renovating the church, so with people coming and going anything is possible
The Catholic Church and organized religion in general can go fuck itself so you won't see any sympathy from me in that regard.
