    Default The Politics of Youtube

The Youtube system is broken. Please submit ways Youtube could fix itself or just complain about the algorithm.

I think that Youtube should step away from large corporations and get its act together because it's hurting both it's most loyal fans and the people who make them money, the creators.

    That's a good idea.

What we are learning after the Facebook political debacle is that social media is worse than commercial media about spreading rumors and disinformation. For social media corporations, clicks are money. They don't care how they get them; they just need to get them, and get lots of them. It doesn't matter if they pretend to bring news and the news is fake. That doesn't matter at all. As long as it generates lots of clicks, that's money to big social media corporations.

Google owns Youtube. To me, that is a conflict of interest. I don't think such power should be concentrated so restrictively. It goes against freedom. Where's the competition? Why don't they just call it GoogleTube? Don't they want the public to realize just how much content they control?
