Top oil firms spending millions lobbying to block climate change policies, says report

Ad campaigns hide investment in a huge expansion of oil and gas extraction, says InfluenceMap

The largest five stock market listed oil and gas companies spend nearly $200m (£153m) a year lobbying to delay, control or block policies to tackle climate change, according to a new report.

Chevron, BP and ExxonMobil were the main companies leading the field in direct lobbying to push against a climate policy to tackle global warming, the report said.

Your defence of oil-rich degenerates is legendary, kudzu- but what you are saying here is that the oil-rich degenerates have spent a tiny fraction of their filth-generated wealth in paying lip-service to the growing clamor of concerned people , like me.

Look what they have accomplished in emissions reduction and mileage increases per gallon. What have you accomplished?

PBS said last night Louisiana is one of the most polluted States (because of the oil industry,) and they have a life expectancy of 75.7 compared to the national average of 78.9. They are also heavily subsidized by the Federal Government, getting a whopping 44% of their State Budget from the taxpayers of other States.

People in Red State West Virginia have even fewer years to live at an expectancy of just 75.4 years, one of the shortest life expectancy rates of the entire USA. The coal industry there has released lots of heavy metals, which have raised cancer rates. That means even people who do not work in the deadly coal mines are at risk.

People in Blue States Hawaii and Connecticut can expect to live a full 5 years longer than people in Louisiana and West Virginia.

The Fossil Fuel Extraction Industries in Louisiana and West Virginia spend heavily on propaganda to keep the poor people there voting Republican and hating the Federal Government which supports them and pays for much of the health care needed to treat the poor people affected by pollution and industry.

Louisiana and West Virginia are also very poor... and the climate in Louisiana is not conducive to getting outdoor exercise.

One would think after massively rich Republican corporations came in and created all those jobs that those States would not be so poor.

But it looks like all which has trickled down are their life expectancy and average wealth rates.

Oh, and of course, lots of right wing propaganda.

You appear to have adopted the inane rhetoric of the idiot and complicit members, maggot or sailor , etc.- who believe that anybody opposing the war crimes of the scurrilous and brutal Izraelis should be standing physically alongside Palestinians with sling-shots.

Frankly, kudzu- you've been morally filleted by the corrupt House of Saud.

Your initial comment was pathetic, kudzu- and you've been going steadily downhill from there.
