    A public place is a platform. If a college has a large open plaza students are generally free to exercise their freedom of expression. If the college restricts speech in these areas it is violating their rights.

    They can decide who they want to invite to speak at a graduation ceremony or speakers program, but when colleges allow student organizations to invite speakers using student service fees the students provided, they cannot restrict those speakers based on content.

    Providing a platform is not the same thing as prohibiting speakers in areas that already are a platform.
