Your family has had an experience about foreign competition with a long held job. Yours turned out well, for many in the Working Class, that's not going to be the case.

I think it's more like the union voters turned away from the (D)s. Because the appeals the GOP has been making to nationalism, fear, white pride, Xtianity, foreign competition (which they secretly promote!), etc. resonated with them. Unfortunately now they are seeing the results of voting the wrong way.
