This board is dominated by Boomers hence the memories of unions and an industrialized economy. Millennials work today in the gig economy and they want stock options, not a union card.

Robert Reich never belonged to a union, never paid union dues, never paid anyone union wages and benefits out of his own pocket. He is a fraud and a phony. A typical limousine liberal.

That's some fascinating anecdotal baloney. I found that the union held me back and didn't want to work with the plant owners. I was in the Machinist Union. I left that diminishing environment, went back to college and got my career on track and made much better money and a better living.

Unions used to have a place. But today, they are led by anti-capitalistic Marxists who work to destroy profits and lower productivity in order to fester within the plants they operate in.

Government and healthcare are to two final bastions of Union labor; both of which are a disaster these days.

My only encounter with a union was useless. Fuck unions and the idiot slugs that support and join them. Unions are for the employees who suck enough to know they have to band together to keep their jobs. A good worker needs nobody else to keep their job.

There is a downside to unions collapsing and it was unintended

Once leftists started seeing union influence decline they decided they didn’t need to protect labor anymore so they jumped on the spic bandwagon

Unions fought and won safer working condition, 40 hour work week as standard, time and a half for overtime, paid vacation, paid insurance, higher wages, Worker protections against bad management. The union organizers were beaten and some killed fighting for what today's workers take for granted. You idiots are throwing it away.

“You idiots”. The ultimate irony here is you share the same mindset as Trump clinging to a time long past. You are stuck in an industrial economy of 60 years ago. You don’t understand the information age and new gig economy. I’m 46 and often feel old and out of touch compared to millennials. You are in a time warp compared to them.

ahem..an industrial economy is a backbone of a healthy economy. Stuff has to get manufactures, or cast or produced..
Trump is visiting a last US tank factory today..it looked like we were moving to all foreign parts.
Trump has brought back 400k manufacturing jobs that Obama said werr not coming back

No disrespect man but that isn’t the future. For example are you familiar with co-working sites like WeWork? They lease or own millions of square feet across the country. You go through various WeWork sites and you see zero Boomers and get a prize if you can find a GenXer. It’s an entirely different way of working and collaborating. This is what millennials know and do. They aren’t growing up saying I want to work in a factory and join a union.

This board is Boomer dominated so we get a lot more threads and topics like this. On boards that dominated by millennials you don’t hear this rhetoric
