I don't think mainstream Christianity as a whole is incompatible with the Constitution, and I am a liberal.
I DO however, recognize that the Christian Dominionist/Reconstructionist sects are 100 percent hostile toward republican constitutional representative democracy.
But that's because their religious dogma supports the concept of a global theocracy, not because of anything in the Constitution.
If there's any hostility, it's not from the founders, it's from the fundamentalist extremists.
But don't take my word for it. It's not a secret.

In mainstream Christianity, no part whatsoever.
But just like Islam, there is an extremist faction of fundamentalists who predict a theocracy in America's future, and they're working feverishly to scale the so called "Seven Mountains" in order to make it a reality.
The difference is, the theocrats already CONTROL two Middle Eastern countries, whereas the extremist fundie Christians do not control this country. But that doesn't mean they're not trying to.
Question: Is this thread ultimately about Islam or Christianity, or liberals?

Oh, I was taught that it takes more than just believing to keep one out of Hell. You have to obey and live faithfully. That involves much more than simple belief.
And parents (dads in particular) who fail to teach their kids the truth are failing...themselves and their children. Eph. 6:4
A different set of consequences? Physical health and hygiene and/or spiritual health and life. Many of us deem the latter to be much more important. I’ll teach my kid both though, thank you very much.

What does that have to do with inculcating a defenseless child in a terrifying religion? You are making the assumption that religion is a good. The founders disagreed. That is why they wanted the separation of religion and government. Religion is a source of strife and war. It is divisive. Tht is not how you form a union.
Absolutely!
Baloney. The founders, with few exceptions like Thomas Paine and Ethan Allen, were believers of scripture at the least, some of them very religious at the most. They wanted freedom to worship as they saw fit. What a warped sense of history and the founding of our nation some folks have. The founders disagreed. That is why they wanted the separation of religion and government.
I taught my children about honesty, respect, humor, laughter, respect, family, inclusion, and many other family values without the Bible. They are much more accepting of the frailties and diversity of their fellow humans than the “Christians” I see on this forum.
Who do you obey? And who tells you who to obey and what to obey? Some pulpit preacher? Or was it drilled into you as a child by your parents? It was your parents indoctrinating you, wasn’t it?
It gets back down to your Bible, doesn’t it? Accepting it on face value that it is the word of your god because it says it is the word of your god.
My parents took me to church...like they were supposed to (Heb. 10:25). They taught me themselves...like they were supposed to (Eph. 6:4). I eventually obeyed the gospel when I was old enough to understand but while still in the household of my parents. I would be lying if I didn’t say they were a tremendous influence. As I went off to college I eventually owned my religion for myself, no longer influenced by my parents but growing in a proper relationship with God. That relationship wasn’t without its tests and trials but it has grown over my 52 years. Yes, I believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God and that is what I strive to obey. I study it daily and try to live it out in my life to the best of my frail human ability. And my wife and I teach it to my son.
