How can there be 5 people banned from the thread when the thread only has one post? Do mods here delete posts?

Not real sure how you save people from something that isn't happening. That's like claiming to have saved a drowning victim when the person never went into the water.

If those idiots are stupid enough to be fooled by the nonsense hoax you support, no one has to worry about them. Something else flashy can be put in their way and their attention will be diverted.

All the science is against you. Even the Oil companies admit it. Tilt at your mindmills, rube. Wherever you live in this world today, the weather will be totally
different and unrecognizable for whoever lives there in 60 years from now, every single place on earth. And your party bears the most responsibility
for cowtowing to the oil and coal companies for the last 30 years until present day.

    Hello and welcome Port Tack,

Greetings. This site has a feature which allows the thread creator to ban anyone at will. The Thread Ban Feature, along with the Ignore Feature, are powerful tools which allow a poster to filter out known trolls.

I see from your posts so far that you are liberal and like to unload on people in a vile way. That is allowed at this site, but I don't talk to people who do that to me, liberal or conservative has nothing to do with respect as an individual. My personal rules are more strict than the site rules. If you ever disrespect me the way you are doing to conservatives I will place you on Ignore and Thread Ban you from any Thread I create. And that treatment is once and done. It would be permanent. If you can switch that off while talking to me then we may be able to talk. I am proudly liberal. I will stand up for what I believe in by using good clean arguments and facts, arguing the merit of each political position.

Since we are talking about big issues there is no reason in my view to make things personal. I feel that insult contests, flame wars, food fights, whatever you call it, actually detract from making good political points. Much of that reasoning is a matter of time. I have a huge life outside of this place, so I am not here all the time like some. I have crafted my experience here to filter out the trash posts and focus mainly on the substance of political arguments. That raises the quality of my time spent here. I figure there is so much volume here there is no way to keep up with every conversation. Even one thread can develop so quickly it is impossible to even keep up with every comment. It is just not possible to keep up with everything. So it is logical to me to filter out the personal garbage posts and get right to the actual politics. That way, I get more actual politics during the time I choose to spend here.

I hope you understand my approach and honor my request. If so, then we can enjoy years of very informative discussions. I'd like that. Naturally, if that's not your thing and you have no desire to oblige then just go ahead and tell me off. Anybody can do that one time. And I will place you on Ignore and Thread Ban you forever. If I don't do that, and allow people to trash-talk me, then I become their enabler for online abuse, something I am not interested in doing.

So now you understand my standards. I offer my participation and honest views in a respectful way, and I am glad to interact with anyone who can respect my approach. I look forward to a brighter, more liberal future and wish to talk about that with you, if you agree.
Personal Ignore Policy PIP: I like civil discourse. I will give you all the respect in the world if you respect me. Mouth off to me, or express overt racism, you will be PERMANENTLY Ignore Listed. Zero tolerance. No exceptions. I'll never read a word you write, even if quoted by another, nor respond to you, nor participate in your threads. ... Ignore the shallow. Cherish the thoughtful. Long Live Civil Discourse, Mutual Respect, and Good Debate! ps: Feel free to adopt my PIP. It works well.

At the end of the day not a lot will change unless countries like China and India get involved. What are the chances they do their own green new deal?

    Hello Micawber,

Good Thread. Thanks for initiating it.

I liked the sign from the Hong Kong protest: "Don't Be A Fossil Fool!"

    Ha Haaa!

Right on. I am so glad to see young people out shaping the world. It is shameful, the world we older people are leaving to them. We must now depend on their young energy to fight for the world they want. I don't think they appreciate being brought into a world trashed by poorly regulated capitalism. The Earth bleeds for a better balance of well regulated capitalism and socialism. Neither one is right by itself. The secret is in the blend.

Actually China is taking great strides to reduce emissions. They have rapidly changed their nuclear requirements and regulations, something only possible in a communist nation, to allow Bill Gates to build his first nuclear reactor in China. Gates promising new design cannot melt down, and uses the spent fuel from traditional reactors as it's fuel. This eliminates two big problems facing us: 1.) How to get clean energy with out burning fossil fuels, and 2.) How to deal with the dangerous stockpiles of spent nuclear fuel.

Yes- but the kids are going to need protection from the batons, gas and rubber bullets. Unless we can convince the military and police forces to ignore the deniers.

Glad my kids have grown to be responsible adults.
My son never graduated from college yet is an FAA certified aircraft mechanic. He's one step/job away from getting on with Alaska Airlines. His responsibility has put him light yrs. ahead of where I was at his age.
Daughter has done well too with two kids and stable family life.

Kids skipping school to protest climate change look like future baristas at Starbucks.

Young adults and their offspring are going to be the most detrimentally impacted by inaction and denial on climate change.

Old farts and elderly deniers have nothing to lose. They aren't going to be around much longer. While they keep moving the goal posts, their overall objective appears to be to run out the clock. I believe some of them would actually rather see harm come to their grandchildren, than to admit to anonymous posters on an obscure message board that they have been wrong for the last three decades on global warming.

Yes. I think that the kids should hunt them down. It shouldn't be difficult.

    I'll keep suggesting it.

That's what Al Gore said several years ago and it didn't happen. No one except idiots like you that are stupid enough to believe that accept what is a hoax. How did you become so stupid you let yourself fall for something that is obviously not true?
