Congress continues to block President Donald Trump’s efforts to declare a national emergency on the Southwest border in order to secure funding for his border wall. On Thursday, the Senate voted against the national emergency declaration.

But fans of the wall are not easily discouraged. Brian Kolfage is a military veteran who launched a GoFundMe to raise money for the wall. The fund evolved into a Florida-based non-profit called We Build The Wall Inc. On Thursday, the group held a gathering in Detroit, Michigan, reports Detroit News.

Partway through the event, former Trump advisor Steve Bannon berated the Senate for rejecting the national emergency declaration.

“You have to comprehend what happened in Washington today,” Bannon said. “Twelve Republicans humiliated the President of the United States on the core issue that brought people out in these states to support him.”...

OUR lighthouse? Bannon is a rock star on the WINGER CIRCUIT. Bannon 'shadows' Trump and holds court in private meetings in fancy hotels with like minded RW nationalists and specifically in EUROPE with Brexiters. I'm sure he makes a lot of other NON-PUBLICIZED visits to other countries as well.

Are you truly this breathtakingly ignorant about all of this?

LONDON – Once portrayed as one of Washington’s most powerful men, Steve Bannon is either back or he’s still out in the political wilderness. He’s either a dangerous xenophobe who trades in conspiracy theories or a Harvard-educated former investment banker who claims his true mission is to stand up for the little guy at any cost.
Nobody knows for sure – apparently not even Bannon himself.

What’s clear is that nearly 18 months after the architect of President Donald Trump’s "America First" national populism was fired as White House chief strategist, Bannon insists he remains a key player in an ongoing global political insurrection he defines as a clash between the legitimate demands and grievances of working-class citizens versus a corrupt, out-of-touch, cosmopolitan, liberal elite.

Bannon’s many critics counter he’s more a skilled provocateur whose Svengali-like instincts propel him to controversial political battlegrounds where he sows confusion and discontent. Think of Britain’s vote to leave the European Union, corruption probes in China, far-right nationalist campaigns in France, Hungary and elsewhere....

Editor's Note: This op-ed was originally published by Project Syndicate.

Steve Bannon’s extensive travels in Europe this year have not drawn as much attention as they should have, given that he is the key theoretician of U.S. President Donald Trump’s signature brand of nationalism. Bannon now wants to build a federation of nationalist parties in Europe. And yet, one wonders how an “America First” ideologue can pursue his political project anywhere other than in America. By joining forces with the French far-right leader Marine Le Pen—herself an open supporter of Russian President Vladimir Putin—Bannon seems to have in mind a new type of “neo-nationalist international.”..
