Child marriage has been acceptable, even encouraged, in many Islamic states since the religion was born. After all, among the prophet Muhammad's dozen wives was Aisha, who is believed to have been 6 or 7 years old when the two were married. But in Saudi Arabia, at least, the practice slammed headlong into modern values last spring, when a Saudi court refused to nullify the marriage of an 8-year-old girl from Unaiza to a man in his late 50s.

Houston has the largest population of Muslims in the South.
I didn't know that about Houston, interesting.

I condemn all pedophiles, and especially those whose superstitious beliefs encourage them to molest children.

The difference is that in the West, they go to jail when they get caught, tried, and convicted, because our governments don't espouse a religious justification for the reprehensible actions of kiddy diddlers.

The age of marriage in KSA has gone up steadily in the past 20 years from 17 to 22-24.

Aisha was born before the Call so she was between 17 and 19.

Atlanta, Georgia has a huge problem with sex trafficking in girls under 16..

That's because it isn't true. It's an estimate based on polling.

She has an uninformed worldly view of what prayer is all about. It's not about wishing for a magic genie to grant our every request.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

I have always been a little startled by the anti-Muslim bigotry the rightwing on this message board has indulged in for over a decade.

Who would not want neighbors who do not drink, do not party, do not do drugs, and are law abiding and devout? Muslim-Americans are among our nation's best citizens, and I would really appreciate having neighbors like that.

So you say. Does this alleged increase in age involve averaging among multiple wives?

Yeah, that's the point I was making. Especially those who kill babies (innocents).

Mormon marriage involving underage girls was not tried and convicted throughout its existence. In fact it still exists unhampered in some areas. Perhaps you should dig deeper into FLDS in order to up your game on the topic.

If I'd claimed you "approve of it," you'd have a point.

    Since I didn't, you don't.

If you're going to ask others to selectively condemn religious practitioners/adherents who molest children, shouldn't you be able to prove that you have condemned Muslim molesters?
