What happened in Venezuela is that they based their economy on fossil fuels, under the false impression that the price per barrel of oil will never go down in any significant way. Which is the same beliefs most right-wing Conservatives in this country have, which is why they support drilling everywhere and anywhere, because the argument is that so much oil drilling will lead to oil revenues, and the oil revenues can fund whatever the state needs in lieu of taxation. TEXAS MADE THAT VERY MISTAKE.

So it would seem you need to be more informed on what happened in Venezuela because as it stands now, you don't know shit.
