It's not an article. It's an opinion piece. And it doesn't actually show socialism not working. It shows the failure of tying your economic fortunes to fossil fuels. What happened in Venezuela happened to a degree in Oklahoma, Texas, and North Dakota too; as the price of energy dropped, so did revenues.

Your problem is that you're a propagandist who has not done the actual work or put in the required effort necessary to understand things. You're just a lying piece of shit. One who has gone all-in with Trump, and who will undoubtedly switch IDs and create new ones once this Trump shitshow comes to an inevitable end.

    No re-brands this time.

so much noise to say so little.. so the opinion piece that mentions lack of reinvestment is just some opinion?
Generally these are reseached before such claims are made - maybe Forbes is different?? ROFL

Oil revenues plunged because of the global price. Whether or not Venezuela invested some of those revenues into production development would not have changed anything about the price per barrel, which Venezuela doesn't control.

The problem with being a posturing jackass with multiple IDs like you, is that you never bother to do the actual, hard work of critical thinking to understand a complex subject.

Not when it comes to an Opinion piece, like those you exclusively use.

Conservatives never tell the full story...it's always half-assed.

Venezuela's misfortune is tied to the price of oil, because the economy is reliant on fossil fuels. Which is what you idiots want for the US, even after TX was hammered by the drop in oil prices and lost jobs and revenue as a result just 3 years ago.

the oil price dropped but they were unable to do more exploration and tapping the heavy crude because of lack od expertise and lack of reinvestment.

You seem tohave a problem that Opinion piece are pulled of one's ass - political opinions are but not articles on business of such where an author would make wild claims without research.
Editors do demand fact checking on a piece like this

now you argue they don't and then I'm done with this noise

And also, your appeal to the authority of the piece is the biggest tell yet.

What happened in Venezuela isn't a failure of socialism, it's a failure of the global oil market. Venezuela cannot set the price of oil, so when the global price drops, it finds itself in a position where its revenues decline and faces a budget crunch. Texas went through the same thing 3 years ago, albeit not to the same degree. But the basic concept is the same; states reliant on fossil fuel revenues for their budgets, then when the price per barrel drops, so does revenue to the state.

The fact is you claimed investigative abilities, were provided specific details where to get them, ran from the challenge, and now hide like the little coward your mother raised you to be. No op-ed. Just facts.

Wow. You're a fucking moron. Really, really stupid. One of the dumbest people on these boards, hands down.

More explanation and more drilling would have what effect on the price per barrel???? If Venezuela increases output, what does that do to the global supply and thus, the global price per barrel? IT INCREASES THE SUPPLY AND LOWERS THE COST. Which means Venezuela merely digs themselves into a deeper hole because increasing the supply lowers the price per barrel. So while they may produce more, the value of what they produce declines, which doesn't put them any farther ahead. In fact, it puts them farther behind.

You don't even understand basic economics.

You're a fraud and a phony, and I see right this act of yours.

that doesn't explain the collapse in production .
it's much steeper under MAduro, and the reason is the pumping is much less not just pricing

Idiot, when you increase the supply of oil by pumping more, what is the effect on the price per barrel???

    No they fucking don't.

That's the entire point of an Op-Ed, to express opinion as fact.

For fuck's sake, if you increase production of oil, you decrease the price per barrel and subsequently the revenues from that.

Basic supply and demand. A concept you are clearly not familiar with.

You just want to blame socialism for what the global oil market caused. Is Texas socialist? Because they saw the same problems in 2016; a decline in the price per barrel that an increase in production would only hasten because when you increase the supply of oil, you do what to the price per barrel???

Conservatives are fucking idiots. Always have been, always will be.

    Bullshit.

You're a fucking crybaby who needs accommodation of your bad faith because you're too much of a coward to confront the harsh truths about your own poor judgment, shit instincts, and rotten character...all of which led you to the positions you have today.
