    it now appears Paul Manafort will serve about 7 1/2 years in prison. That takes into account the sentence last week in Virginia, and some add-ons today in DC based on the witness tampering conspiracy and other offenses.

    If Manafort's multi-million dollar money laundering and tax evasion had already been investigated, why hadn't it been prosecuted? These are not trivial matters, not "process crimes". How had he gotten away with it?

    because FARA is a joke. only a very few people get convicted
    but DC is full of FARA violations.

    It goes to the nature of a special prosecutor as well -
    you win a prize! your very own prosecutor with unlimited investigations and no need for reasonable suspicions
