Tomorrow they vote on whether to take No Deal 'off the table'. At the moment, leaving with no deal on March 29 is the default position.
so they want to make a deal on not having no deal?.........even if you say "no deal" is not the default, isn't that still what you have if you have no deal?......

You're right! The only other nations without codified constitutions are Canada, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, and - you'll like this one - Israel.

Even the People's Republic of Korea has a Constitution, which just goes to show.

The UK doesn't have a written constitution, but very clear customary procedures, which have recently been heavily mucked-about with. The extreme right of the tory party have been using this 'Brexit' nonsense to bugger about the tory leadership for many years now and turn this place into Puerto Rico 2, idealised as Singapore, and Mr Cameron decided to call their bluff and hold a vaguely-worded referendum (NOT part of the British Constitution until Wilson) to call their bluff. No clear details about what this 'leave' was to mean were offered, no proportion of the electorate having to vote FOR was laid down, wild propaganda was offered, including huge lies from the Brexiteers (who cheated on their election expenses), and as far as we can tell, very large numbers voted out of racism and spite, resentment of what Mrs Thatcher had done to a high proportion of the Counties of the UK. Mrs May, gamely but foolishly, got the best deal she could, but the Brexiteers, who wanted Christmas every day and free beer, honked 'Leave means leave' and shouted down anyone who tried to explain that twenty-seven other countries had nothing to gain from seeing a Country leave the EU and be better off. We are now at the point where this drunken idiocy meets reality, and we can either join the Brexiteers in jumping off a cliff or hold a referendum on the actual proposals. It is like 30's Vienna here - the position is desperate, but hardly serious.

And these are the peoples who beat Hitler and set up decent society in '45! Fall of the Roman Republic has nothing on it!

Well- Canada and NZ are part of your scurrilous ' Commonwealth ', degenerate Saudi Arabia is your main arms buyer and Izrael is the criminal pariah of most of the world. What is it that you're attempting to state ?

And here is the wording of the vaguely-worded referendum:

Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?

    with the possible responses:

Remain a member of the European Union
    Leave the European Union

    Or in Welsh:

A ddylai'r Deyrnas Unedig aros yn aelod o'r Undeb Ewropeaidd neu adael yr Undeb Ewropeaidd?

    with the responses:

Aros yn aelod o'r Undeb Ewropeaidd
    Gadael yr Undeb Ewropeaidd

Amazing how anyone understood, ain't it?

But, of course, totally useless as to discussing terms, or deciding about evidence, or establishing whether the voters were those who would suffer the consequences (over eighties, fine, under eighteens, forget it) and a few other small matters that any sane country would establish first.

Welsh Windbags like Taffy want Wales to become a heritage museum dedicated to the memory of Keir Hardy and Aneurin Bevan, subsidised by the EU. Of course that money comes from the English for the most part anyway. But sadly the Welsh are so hateful and distrustful they'd prefer to be in the EU receiving breadcrumbs from the Brussels table, than actually work to achieve a vibrant economy.

Sorry if it's a state secret. I am from England myself, you just seem to be fairly knowlegable about the UK.

That would require a long answer, so I'll just make a few points:

    1. I was a quasi-marxist in my youth, which was some years ago.
    2. Social democracy has achieved some excellent things.
    3. The Kim Dynasty hasn't.

America's terror of socialism...and refusal to incorporate some adjustments derived from socialism...

...will be the death of us if we do not get over it.
