    Boeing launches first spaceship

The unmanned debut test flight of the Starliner failed to reach its required altitude to dock with the International Space Station.

There'll be a short queue for that then.

Pressure on FAA to approve its 737 Max jets backfires for Boeing

Sandy Morris, an aerospace analyst at Jefferies, said the FAA’s tougher stance with Boeing and its refusal to rush the plane back into service suggested the Max would not be approved until summer at the earliest.

“My guess is that it’s at least another six months [until certification] and may even be longer. It could be a year. If there were another incident, Boeing would be toast.

'No survivors' after Ukrainian airliner crashes near Tehran
State TV reports that all passengers of the Boeing 737 plane heading to the Ukrainian capital Kiev were killed.

A Ukrainian airliner with 180 passengers and crew on board has crashed near Tehran's Imam Khomeini airport in Iran early on Wednesday.

Iran's state television said all those on board the airliner were killed.

According to the Iranian media, the Boeing 737-800 jet crashed near Parand, a suburb southwest of capital Tehran shortly after take-off.

Iran's Red Crescent earlier said there was no chance of finding survivors. Images posted on social media also indicated that there were no survivors.

Offhand- if that is as a result of any fault of the aircraft- that signals the final chapter in Boing's passenger airliners division. Good riddance.
It will have to concentrate on its military holdings. Assholes.

‘Designed by clowns & supervised by monkeys’: Boeing employee shreds 737 MAX in internal messages

Boeing has released another trove of internal company messages suggesting it lied to regulators, and showing fierce criticism from an unnamed employee who said the crash-prone 737 MAX aircraft was “designed by clowns.”
In its release of the redacted communications on Thursday following an internal probe, Boeing acknowledged some of the messages were “completely unacceptable” and contained “provocative language.” In one missive sent in 2017, an employee castigated the 737 MAX – which was grounded globally last March after a series of fatal crashes – slamming both its designers and ‘supervisors,’ apparently referring to federal regulators.

    The Iranians did it.

FAA to pay whistle-blower $90,000 for raising safety concerns
The whistle-blower faced retaliation and harassment after reporting that flight inspectors lacked formal qualifications.

The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) agreed to pay $90,000 to an aviation safety inspector who faced retaliation for raising concerns about unqualified flight safety inspectors, a US agency said on Monday.

The US Office of Special Counsel (OSC) said the whistle-blower aviation employee disclosed flight inspectors were certifying pilots and conducting safety "check rides" even though they lacked the necessary formal training and certifications.

The OSC, an office that reviews whistle-blower allegations, said the FAA's Office of Audit & Evaluation "substantiated the whistle-blower's allegations, calling into question the operational review of several aircraft, including the Boeing 737 MAX and the Gulfstream VII".

Faulty sensors & inadequate pilot training: Ethiopia issues damning report on Boeing 737 MAX crash

A report into the crash of a Boeing 737 MAX 8 jet which killed 157 people in Ethiopia last year criticized Boeing for offering “inadequate” training for pilots flying the new model aircraft.
The interim report by the Ethiopian government found faulty readings from sensors and the activation of the MCAS anti-stall system preceded the Ethiopian Airlines crash.

Planes of this type have two sensors recording the plane's angle, known as the angle of attack (AOA). One of them malfunctioned shortly after liftoff and registered a reading of a whopping 74.5 degrees, prompting MCAS activation, the report states. The system then repeatedly forced the plane's nose downward because the sensor was reporting that it was climbing too steeply.
