You are confusing it with Norway.

The Norwegian government (aka, the norweigan people) is the largest shareholder in Statoil and Norsk Hydro - the Norwegian energy conglomerate - which is basically what rightwingers would thus call "socialism".

I actually would not mind doing what Norway does - treating our vast hydrocarbon resources as a public resource whose main purpose is to benefit the national interest first and foremost, and be treated as private capital secondarily.

Norway's oil. gas, and energy conglomerate Equinor, is owned by the people of Norway - aka, the Government of Norway - who own 67 percent of the shares in the conglomerate, and are thus the majority shareholder.

That is socialism by any definition that rightiwng posters have attempted to advance over the years.

So in spite of your claim that "capitalism" fueled the Norwegian welfare state, it actually stands as an example of successful socialism.

Unlike the united states, the people of Norway ensured that their vast energy resources would be controlled and largely owned by the Norwegian people through their government. And that oil, gas, and energy would be treated as a public trust first and foremost for the benefit of the people of Norway, and secondarily as a resource for-profit companies could invest in and make money off of.

Climate Crusaders Are Wrong About Norway’s Oil Divestment Proposal

Climate crusaders celebrating Norway’s proposal to divest its sovereign wealth fund from oil and gas stocks should pause before popping the carbon-neutral champagne.

In fact, the proposed divestment is limited to only include companies solely involved in oil and gas exploration, not integrated majors like BP, Exxon and Equinor, Norway’s state-owned oil giant. Norway’s proposal would affect about $40 billion in holdings out of a $1 trillion fund.

Also, Norway’s government said Friday the decision was to “reduce the vulnerability of our common wealth to a permanent oil price decline,” and not environmental considerations. Basically, the country doesn’t want to hold too many oil and gas stocks should the price tank, like it did in 2014.

Environmental activists are spinning this as a victory in their war against fossil fuels. Activists said it shattered the “illusion” that fossil fuels would continue to be used for decades, despite global warming.

Your whole meme is a fucking lie
I never posted a meme. Neither Norway or Sweden gave up on capitalism and became socialist. Most of their major industries, healthcare system, etc. are privately owned. As Cypress pointed out Norway's oil industry is 67% owned by the government, so even it is not all socialist.
