Changing your story now dumb fuck? The DOW had peaked at 14,093.48 before Obamunism. After Obamunism the DOW had reached 19,827.25. A gain of 5733.77 points over eight years.

Trump has had a gain of 6,204.56 in a mere 26 months. Far surpassing anything we saw during Obamunism.....and with GDP cranking at over 3%.

Elle Oh Elle, when have people ever been able to predict the stock market? Step back and think about that comment for a moment. If someone could predict the stock market they'd be the richest person in the world.

And you, like others ITT, don't know what drives the market. Nordberg, you probably don't even know who Jay Powell is.

There's been periods of stability in the market that has led to reasonable predictions in the past...in fact, pretty much throughout Obama (and moreso in his second term), the market grew fairly gradually.

The problem now is that Trump and the Conservatives have no idea what they're doing, and that's creating market instability.

That's why, despite the GDP growth and Russia Tax Cut, the market didn't grow at all in 2018 and has taken 13 months just to get back to what it was before.

So an entire year of market growth was wasted because of Conservatism.

I'll respond one time then let you, Althea and Cypress enjoy your three way echo chamber. First off the Dow was down for the year in 2015 so your second term comment is not correct. The driver of the stock market boom was the Fed's three rounds of QE. It's the same conversation over and over. You, Cypress and Althea don't understand the Fed and how it drives (institutional) investors. So keep saying your same incorrect story as you do. You'll get a lot thanked post from Cypress and Althea because they don't know and your story sounds good.

John Mauldin is an excellent economist. He writes a great weekly column that's a must read on the economy. It's sort of long so i'll just post the link but if you want to get into the weeds this is for you.
