Default Will Happer to be Appointed to the Presidential Committee on Climate Security

Truly wonderful news, hopefully Will Happer will also be tasked to go through all those government departments that use their offices to promote climate misinformation and propaganda. The National Climate Assessment is a very good example, where climate alarmists took an impossible scenario like RCP 8.5 and proceeded to use that as the basis for their scaremongering. Hopefully he'll also tell the likes of NOAA and GISS to stop tampering with temperature data or lose their funding.

White House prepares to scrutinize intelligence agencies’ finding that climate change threatens national security

    February 20 at 5:00 AM

The White House is working to assemble a panel to assess whether climate change poses a national security threat, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post, a conclusion that federal intelligence agencies have affirmed several times since President Trump took office.

The proposed Presidential Committee on Climate Security, which would be established by executive order, is being spearheaded by William Happer, a National Security Council senior director. Happer, an emeritus professor of physics at Princeton University, has said that carbon emissions linked to climate change should be viewed as an asset rather than a pollutant

In late November, Trump dismissed a government report finding that global warming is intensifying and poses a major threat the U.S. economy, saying, “I don’t see it.” Last month, his nominee to head the Environmental Protection Agency, acting administrator Andrew Wheeler, testified that he did not see climate change as one of the world’s pressing challenges.

According to the NSC discussion paper, the order would create a federal advisory committee “to advise the President on scientific understanding of today’s climate, how the climate might change in the future under natural and human influences, and how a changing climate could affect the security of the United States.”

Yes Solar 24 has been the quietest since the Dalton Minimum way back at the start of the 19th century.

again- i'm obtuse perhaps, but doesn't that mitigate against climate change?

Yes, because lack of sunspots are directly related to a decrease in the solar wind which allows far more cosmic rays to reach the atmosphere. This in turn results in the formation of aerosols which form the seeds needed for clouds to be formed. There is a huge experiment called CLOUD at CERN investigating this phenomena and attempting to identify the aerosols involved.

No they don't, by and large, which explains to some extent why CMIP5 climate models all run far too hot. There is currently work going on to determine the effects of solar forcing on climate and use that to build new CMIP6 models.

Empirical evidence that cosmic rays are increasing due to the Solar Minimum
