Very interesting. This took place four years ago and appears to have gotten a few days' worth of press and then the story just died. The last article had this to say about his crime:

Whether he'll be prosecuted, not when he'll be prosecuted. One excuse was that he's getting mental health treatment. Arguably his actions were worse than Smollett's yet there didn't seem to be the same amount of outrage over them, nor did I see Smollett getting offered mental health treatment.
