The reason is glaringly obvious; you would have to confront the fact that your support of Trump was predicated on your terrible judgment and shit instincts when it came to how deeply ingrained the conspiracy was.

If you admit that Trump conspired with Russia, then you are also admitting the judgment and instincts that led you to vote for and support him are garbage. For someone like you who has NPD, confronting your own poor judgment and bad instincts are too damaging to your ego. You like to think of yourself as a savvy person with good judgment and instincts, and admitting Trump conned you would invalidate that ego trip.
