The fastest way to help college age students acquire college educations is to increase the minimum wage.

I think it is also time to start thinking about public funded Community college as a continuation of Public Schools or Public Education.

And I do not understand why community college has to be limited to two year associate degree.

I believe Community College should be publicly funded, and I believe they should offer 4 year degrees, as well.

And I also believe that Community Colleges should also be upgraded to offer trade school courses and certifications for those who are not seeking degrees.

Interesting question. My kids all received financial aid (Pell grants, scholarships, student loans). They all worked PT while attending. They all did well.... two have masters degrees even (although of course they did not get financial aid for that). The answer might be the same thing as why some kids do well in h.s. and others struggle. How engaged are their parents with their education? Were they given good study tools? Do they know how to find help on campus if they're struggling? Are they hanging out with kids who would rather socialize and party, or kids who are serious about their education? #1 I think is this -- does that student really WANT to be there, or was attending someone else's idea?

Well, I am a current college student. I've seen more than one student in my classes just going through the motions. It's a small university with a small student body (~2000 students); the kids in athletics are there for the sports rather than for the academics. They're white, btw.
