A few minutes ago I posted a thread on 28 active ‘national emergencies’ that were begun under Bush and Obama.

I’m sure this one is somehow ‘different’ lol. I actually wasn’t aware of how common and ordinary national emergencies are since Bush and Obama both declared roughly a dozen of them and they were barely noticed or mentioned in the media.

The question is how the courts will rule on this one. There seems to be a fair amount of precedent in favor of Trump’s side.

the republicans owned congress and did nothing RE: the wall so they certainly dont want it. Should trump declare a national emergency any future democrat president can do as they please RE: climate change or gun violence

As to your first statement, you are 100% correct. I have always laid the blame at the feet of fuckhead Ryan and McCuntell. If McCuntell wanted the wall we would have the wall. Democrats have already tried a take over but failed.

I’m more interested in the ensuing court battle over the wall.

The Coast Guard (military) already protects are coastal borders, ... so there's that precedent that it is already a military matter.

And we know that Obama sued Arizona because of its State immigration law, ... so there is precedent that the State's have no independent immigration authority.

If we are lucky, the courts decision on the wall, ... could provide the impetus to abolish sanctuary cities ... which are already illegal.
