France reports 74% rise in offences against Jews and Germany records 60% surge in violent attacks


The figures confirm the results of three recent Europe-wide surveys showing Jewish people feel at greater risk, and are experiencing markedly more aggression, amid a generalised increase in racist hate speech and violence in a significantly coarser, more polarised political environment.

In the largest ever survey of Jewish antisemitism opinion, addressing more than 16,000 Jewish people in 12 European countries, the EU’s Fundamental Rights Agency said at the end of last year that antisemitic hate speech, harassment and an increasing fear of being recognised as Jewish were becoming the new normal.

A combination of factors seem to be to blame. In the past two decades, antisemitic attacks in Europe have generally peaked in line with tensions in the Middle East. “They were essentially the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, imported,” said Marc Knobel, a historian at the Crif umbrella group for France’s Jewish organisations. “Rather than attacking Israelis, people went for Jews.”

The Israelis live in an unnatural hermetically-sealed environment carved out of somebody else's country defended by screwball Americans who still believe in ' the rapture ' in the 21st century. They are in gross violation of international humanitarian law and have more United Nations resolutions against them than every other state on earth combined. And what is Izrael's message to these innocent and unfairly- maligned Jews abroad ? It is- ' Come and live here in ' Izrael' and help to kill Palestinians and ethnically-cleanse their country in order to call it ours '

So - having established that one ethnic minority group, the Jews, is still being maligned post-Holocaust has anybody enquired as to the social well-being of the representatives of the OTHER 12 million Holocaust victims- the Gypsies, Muslims, Roma etc ? Where are the figures charting THEIR treatment today ? Do you really think that only Jews were victims and that only Jews suffer the scorn and blows of the brutal and the ignorant ?

Show some balance. And when ' balance ' becomes the bedrock of US Middle-East policy then there will be peace. Lip-service to ' balance ' will not do. The US embassy should be returned to Tel Aviv and Trump and his cohorts must apologize for their ill-judged action. The billions of dollars in military aid to Izrael must cease. The US must ask to be readmitted to the United Nations human rights organizations from which it has withdrawn. It must rejoin UNESCO and restart its commitments to its United Nations Charter pledges. Izrael has dragged America down and Americans should again feel free to travel overseas without having to try to disguise their nationality. Ask any non-Izraeli Jew who has suffered for what America and Izrael have done.

Racism is, always, a defensive feature of capitalism, used to divide those who want change, and, if required, will be used to slaughter millions of people rather than lose the ability to exploit and steal.
