Default Thanks to AOC and Democrats, Amazon Just Pulled the Plug on Their NYC Headquarters

Amazon pulled the plug on their new headquarters in New York City, taking with them the billions of dollars that would have gone into the project — and their blaming political hostility from people like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.)

As IJR previously reported, Ocasio-Cortez was “outraged” when Amazon picked her district for its new headquarters. When rumors started to swirl that Amazon was reconsidering the move, she took to Twitter to celebrate.

Can everyday people come together and effectively organize against creeping overreach of one of the world’s biggest corporations?

    Yes, they can.
    Amazon Statement
While polls show that 70 percent of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City.”

Amazon thanked New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for their efforts and said they would consider future deals with the city if the political climate allows

Lovely. Why pay all those taxes anyway? Bring it on down to Florida. Plenty of big land spaces in central area.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

Actually this is something I am glad she did. Why should NY pull their pants down for Amazon? They have billions taxpayers shouldn't have to shell out money for them to come. That is a shameful practice that needs to end.

Taxpayers always get fleeced in these types of scenarios

It is corporate welfare. I support AOC in this endeavor. I am dead serious. Fuck amazon

yes. We have an outstanding business climate as well as ecological climate.

We are already larger populace then NY state, and New Yorkers are moving away from the cold miserable high state tax state.

Come on down! You'll find a wiling workforce, a great economy, and low taxes..

When it was learned that Amazon were going to be bringing most of these jobs from their old headquarters, many NY politicians have re-thunk it!

Did Florida have any Cities make the Amazon top 20 list? (not a rhetorical question)

If a major corp cannot promise that more than 50% of the jobs will be local and permanent in an area to which they want to relocate, tell them "no."

The neighborhood where Amazon wanted to locate in NYC, the people did not want them there, can you imagine how high rents and taxes would be if Amazon moved in?!! Just look at Seattle?!!

Being an ignorant flyover country rube that you are , you know nothing about the geography of NYC, The amazon facility would have caused major disruption to the area of long island city which is just across the east river from manhattan, The current infrastructure cannot handle the placement of amazon it would also be displacing many of the working class housing. Ever notice that big companies that need tech workers never relocate to flyover country of jesusland or dumbfuckastan

It's in several locations currently depending on the division, but mainly in Arlington Va, and San Francisco!

So why did they pick that location then? Why were DiBlasio and Cuomo pushing for it?
