Maybe it was because she's 1/1024 native American.

It could be because native Americans have such a problem with alcoholism, they were so drunk they thought they were at a bar and were trying to pick her up for the night.

Some tribes have a very high level of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, several times higher than the national average. Low self esteem has been suggested to be a cause. That they would give her a standing ovation may be because of a combination of both.
