Default The 1% would no fair well....

For some reason, those who pride themselves on rugged independence from Government and society, are politically married to the 1% who are some of the most Government and society dependent people on the planet.

The prepper is more likely to have voted for a man who appears not to be able to take a shit unless the toilet is pure 14k gold. What is this marriage all about? Ill tell you what I think, the 1% has entered into a marriage of convince with the rugged individualist to help enrich himself.

Fear, many Preppers are longing for the day society collapses and they will be the ones prepared, while the 1% is hoarding money because they plan to buy themselves out of any trouble, and they want their children to be guaranteed admission into the upper class so they wont have to get their hands dirty. Self reliant meet helpless.

Desperation to keep your stash. There is an us versus them mentality in both groups. If society broke down, no doubt we would much more "on our own" than we are today. The interdependent social network that keeps us all alive and allows for individuals to specialize on Medicine, Law, Art, Science, Math while not worrying about farming, clean water, and personal safety would fall apart. The value of the money the 1% has stashed would also disappear, and those who have depended their entire life on paying other people to do all the activities of daily living would be unable to survive. So why are they political bedfellows, because the 1% is using the hard working individual in an effort to keep his stash. The American way, if you can enslave enough people to work for less than the value of their service, you get rich, especially if you never let them actually catch the carrot you dangle in front of them. Keeping taxes high on the middle class and low on the wealthy (percentage wise) perpetuates the financial enslavement system. The individualist gives up on being financially wealthy and preps, the wealthy promotes the system and sits on a huge pile of case. BAM, modern America, Trumpism!

    1% of 300,000,000 Americans = 3,000,000 Americans.

That's vastly overestimating the size of America's corporate oligarchy class.

We're giving Republican pols a break when we credit them with representing the interests of 3,000,000 Americans.

The constituency that benefits from their policies is considerably smaller than that.

Yet, 63,000,000 American voters voted for Trump anyway.

What does that tell us about their intelligence?

Could you imagine Rump surviving 5 days after a collapse of the social structure?

    Without electricity?
    Without prepared food?
    Without Twitter?
    Without a gold toilet?
A world where money is worthless?

The plutarchcy theme has validity, but the motivation behind it is a bit too conspiratorial

What should we do with the Bezos, Buffetts’, Zuckerburgs, Gates et al’s? Who do we punish them for their greed?

Thanks for illustrating the folly of taxing the rich to raise trillions of dollars for unlimited spending on idiotic GND.

And it is disingenuous to equate the richest most powerful people with entrepreneurism.

It is tantamount to equating the most powerful people with those who are attempting to create a viable business on their own.
