In very subtle ways, President Trump is laying a smackdown on the left.

Take his tax reform package. Irrespective of the rates, what he did with SALT deductions was ingenious. It hits leftists states where it hurts them the most. Their pocketbooks. He is now making citizens of those states feel the sting of their high taxes. In the past, they were able to have the rest of the country subsidize their high taxes. No more. Now these people either need to lobby their states to lower their tax burden, deal with it or move out. Either way the leftists states are harmed

Now by putting a citizenship question on the form President Trump will show how badly American are being screwed by illegal immigration. Again, this will impact federal funding sanctuary cities will get and thus hitting them in the pocketbooks yet again
