yes, but she had evovlved on the issue to most recently believing it was a "never gonna happen" pipe dream.

I see no one attempting to defend the Green New Deal which is socialism and an attempt at government taking over how goods are produced and how they get to market along with how cars and planes will function and telling agriculture folks how to grow crops.

Owl said her ideas are popular with the people. Anyone buy into her plan?

Not actual socialism, conservatives are clueless when it comes to the concept, but the word "socialism," we are going to be hearing it endlessly the closer we get to the election by not only Trump but the entire right wing media, lot of analogizing Venezuela and "socialism"

All Democrat programs of any kind such as healthcare, which was a winning issue for them in the midterms, or any mention reexamining taxing the rich, are going to now be demonized as the dreaded "socialism."

Plays well with the base, especially the OBG's who still think there are commies under the bed, and it is generalized enough to be applied to almost anything. We all know conservatives love their melodrama, always have to have some existential threat on the horizon, anything to demogogue into fear and anxiety, and since immigration ain't working, "socialism" is perfect

Look for "socialism" a lot in the days to come
Trump did well to position himself as the anti-socialist going into 2020.

And to think democrats handed it to him on a silver platter.
Coup has started. First of many steps. Impeachment will follow ultimately~WB attorney Mark Zaid, January 2017

It is a proposal, a dream sheet, it isn't a well defined program ready for implementation but rather a platform for debate, it is primary season, you make it sound like it is a done deal that Democrats are all on board to pass as legislation tomorrow morning. Pelosi didn't even put AOC on the panel to examine it

And how wouldn't people buy into it, it is aiming at making the US the City of Oz, and AOC is charismatic, but when broken down into specific proposals it will be debated in real terms.

Again, you are just buying into the demogoguery circling the word "socialism"

Well, that was his plan, but unless he does a better job of selling it, it won't help him beyond the base

A number of the Democrat proposals out there are very appealing to large voting segments, you just saw how health care was their issue to victory in 2018. The antiquated fear of the word "socialism" doesn't apply to everyone, and Trump's endeavor to make it about being a real American ain't going work, too 1950ish to work, majority of America have no recollection of the Cold War

I get it’s just a proposal and stating the obvious we debate proposals such as this publically in our democracy. But her proposal is about as close to full on socialism as we will get in this country. If you want to call disagreeing with it demogaugery that is your right but this thing is so far left Pelosi is calling it DOA and some environmentalist on NPR yesterday said it’s not doable and detracts from what can really be done.

But as you state she’s popular (with a certain subset) so speaking out against her ideas are a must.

You mean as expanding Medicare, I don't remember even Reagan Republicans referring to it as socialism when Reagan expanded the coverage back during his Adminsitrarion

As I said, a dream sheet, approaching it as a threat to the American way of life is a bit overboard, as you mentioned, even Pelosi didn't take it serious

And people like AOC, as I said she is charismatic, just as Trump appeals to his base, she appeals to the left, she can pretty much say or do what she likes and get away with it

And we can continue to hear the left use the term racist, sexist, white privilege and white supremacy to search and destroy.

Some of the proposals so far from the Democratic candidates: a 2% wealth tax, 70% top marginal rates, ending private insurance, free college

This is far bigger than Trump. It's about us as a country.
Democrats do not care, it's about power! They will keep promising free crap, and the idiotic dem sheep will baaaah at their feet until they realize tax payer actually pay for the free!

Another believer in the "cadillac welfare queen" myth, it always amazes me how some people are more concerned with what others might be getting than what they themselves already have

And incase you missed it we are, and will really done the road, pay for the President's recent tax stimulus for the rich, did that bother you
