Default A Pox on both houses

This shit needs to stop. A horrible precedent is being set. Neither party is doing anything to resolve this shutdown and end it. It's all about which party is going to win this stand off or who's going to blink first so that they can gain some sort of political advantage for 2020.

This shit needs to stop and it needs to stop now. A pox on both houses!

The President's offer is practical, logical, and reasonable.
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."
    — Joe Biden on Obama.

Socialism is just the modern word for monarchy.

D.C. has become a Guild System with an hierarchy and line of accession much like the Royal Court or priestly classes.

Private citizens are perfectly able of doing a better job without "apprenticing".

That's a cop out LIBERAL snowflake. It's your side with the wasteful investigations. It's YOUR side with the insults to the office of the President and the electoral process. It's YOUR side who thinks its funny to force a large number of Government workers to not get paid over what amounts to .0165% of the Federal Budget.

I don't think it should stop until the idiots in the Democratic Party of the Jackass blowup the entire system with their infantile obsession and severe case of TDS.

The proposal by Nancy Pelosi and the House is very fair and reasonable, Mott...and it has the advantage of not giving in to extortion...WHICH WOULD BE A HORRIBLE PRECEDENT TO SET.

The Senate should pass the legislation sent over by the House (it passed identical legislation earlier by an overwhelming vote)...and send it to the White House for Donald Trump's signature.

There is no real equivalency here, Mott. The Democrats MUST NOT give in to extortion. The Republicans in congress should be helping to prevent extortion winning out.

I agree as far as poxing both their houses, but 1) The $5.7B is for far more than a wall 2) Trump has offered to negotiate 3) the democrats continue to refuse to negotiate. That said, there are reports that Nancy is losing control of the House over this as there is a growing number of democrats willing to compromise to end the shut down so she may not be able to hold the line for long.

Trumps is attempting to use black mail and extortion, which the US Congress should never respond to.

The only time I am aware the US government allowed itself to be extorted, is when Bedtime For Bonzo caved to terrorists in 1988.

If Obama had tried to use extortion by shutting down the government to get his stimulus bill passed in 2009, there would have been calls for his impeachment.

Americans Overwhelmingly Agree with Democrats to Fund the Government Without Conditions on Border Security
Americans Overwhelmingly Blame Trump for the Shutdown
Trump is on Public Record Taking Credit for the Shutdown.

One thing that has become clear across different polls is that Trump’s position on the government shutdown is not popular. In a rundown of the recent polling published last week, Fox News highlighted a Quinnipiac poll that found 63 percent of people “agree with the Democratic proposal to reopen parts of the government that do not involve border security,” compared to just 30 percent opposed.

That poll found that 56 percent of Americans blame Trump and Republicans for the shutdown — numbers that dovetail with NPR’s findings about the percentage of voters who have already made up their minds that they won’t vote for Trump in 2020.

Democrats never really had a good argument against funding 5B for a wall; so it’s a question of republicans staying united behind Trump till cracks start to develop in the democrats ‘wall’ lol.

Fortunately for the country, I think we’re starting to see it. There’s nothing wrong with what Trump has on the table so democrats should take it.

The 6 billion is a downpayment on a hugely more expensive wall. It does not end here. Trump"I will shut it down. I will take the mantle. I will not blame you." Then he did. This is Trump's shutdown. He offered 2 small programs that were taken away by himself. He essentially will go back to how it was for the wall. He gives nothing and wins.
He knew the Dems could not buy that deal. The real point was to try and shift the blame to the Dems. That is all it was meant to do.
There have been several bills in the past that Trump agreed to that would have stopped this from happening. Trumpy changed his mind at the last second. No matter how you scramble this, Trump is responsible. He pulled out of one deal due to Colter and Limburger. Who voted for them?

I guess MSNBC showing all these blacks who can't pay their bills for the victim narrative is having unintended consequences

past times to end Democratic ( Pelosi) intransigence.
Trump has been shown to be willing to negotiate -even advancing a proposal.

Pelosi has been sucking lemons as a response

Part of the problem it’s *always* been a case of a pox on both houses.

Trump made a mistake in ‘owning’ the shutdown because it gave several weeks of political cover for Chuck and Nancy. But the longer it drags on the more apparent it becomes that democrats aren’t acting in good faith and they ‘own’ the shutdown just as much as Trump—and if they don’t budge on this compromise by Trump [which is going to cost him with the Coulter wing] the shutdown will have DEMOCRATS stamped on it in all caps.
