Walter, 18, was arrested Tuesday night and faces three felony charges: One of rape and two of sodomy. He appeared before a Boone County judge Wednesday via a video arraignment.

According to the sheriff's department, Walter repeatedly assaulted and choked the 18-year-old victim, ignoring her pleas to stop. The news release also stated the victim was afraid to have sex with Walter because of his size: He stands 7 feet tall and weighs 300 pounds.


"Walter dismissed the victim by laughing at her and telling her that she would be fine," Sgt. Philip Ridgell wrote in the release.


In court, prosecutors said the victim's mother stepped in to find a way to get Walter out of the house.
"Later the victim told her mother and made an excuse on why he needed to leave, giving her an opportunity to call the police," the prosecutor said.


A medical examination later revealed bruises and multiple lacerations on the woman's body.
Walter went on to repeatedly text and call the victim, Ridgell wrote.


He was booked into the Boone County Detention Center Tuesday night and held on a $250,000 cash bond. His next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.

Walter was at one point committed to play basketball for Xavier, but he never materialized on the team or enrolled in classes there . His father is former Bengal Joe Walter.

University of Oklahoma sorority kicks out student who filmed blackface routine

The University of Oklahoma denounced its students who produced a blackface video, with at least one of the pupils kicked out of her sorority over the offensive stunt, officials said.

In video posted late last week on social media, a young woman is seen painting her face black and uttering a racist slur.

OU President James Gallogly said he was "saddened and offended" that this happened in days leading up to a national holiday, commemorating slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

"We have been made aware of an inappropriate and derogatory video circulating on social media posted by an OU student," according to the president's statement.

"The University of Oklahoma abhors such conduct and condemns the students' actions and behavior in the strongest terms possible. While students have the freedom of expression, the negative impact on such conduct cannot be underestimated."

A man was taken into custody this weekend in connection with four "brutal" murders that shook communities in the Reno, Nevada, area, officials said.

Wilbur Ernesto Martinez-Guzman, 19, was apprehended Saturday, Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam said at a joint news conference Sunday.

"We feel confident we have evidence that will link him to all four homicides," Balaam said. "The information we have now indicates there are no outstanding suspects."

Martinez-Guzman "was likely in the United States illegally and was detainable," immigration officers verified Saturday afternoon, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

The first of the four victims, 56-year-old Connie Koontz, was killed Jan. 9 or 10, KOLO reported.

Sophia Renken, 74, was found dead Jan. 13, according to KOLO, and then Gerald David, 81, and his wife Sharon David, 80, were found shot dead in their home on Jan. 16.

"Our communities were shaken by these brutal murders," Hicks said.
