Default Is Nathan Phillips Too Young to be a Vietnam Vet?

Several new stories say he is 64 years old and I have seen a 2000 article from an Omaha newspaper saying that he was 45 years old. So let’s say he is 64.

Most stories about Nathan refer to him as a Viet Nam vet. Several refer to him as a Marine. I am 66 years old and know personally, of no one my age who went to Viet Nam. Several friends joined the various services right after graduation – 1972.

He needs to produce his DD214.

If Nathan Phillips (aka “Dances with Soros”) ever went to Nam it was most likely with Jane Fonda.

Nathan Phillips outright lied about events. There's no reason to trust his claim he's a vet. But, it makes no difference. He's still a lying, entitled, red racist.

The action was over in 73' he could have been the last, i am 68 and was there, if he is 64 he could have been there in 73'

The era ended May 7, 1975, by order of President Gerald Ford. During the 11-year campaign, approximately 2.7 million American men and woman served; of those, 58,220 died and 153,000 were wounded. Today, there are fewer than 850,000 living Vietnam War Vets

January 27, 1973: President Nixon signs the Paris Peace Accords, ending direct U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. The North Vietnamese accept a cease fire. But as U.S. troops depart Vietnam, North Vietnamese military officials continue plotting to overtake South Vietnam.

The last lottery for the Vietnam war draft was on February 2nd for those born in 1952, if he is 64 now he was born in 1953 or 1954, the draft for that lottery was never held as the draft was abolished before they were called up, so he was not drafted. If he was a Vietnam vet he went in at 18 as a volunteer in 1972 and was sent there for literally weeks... after signing up when he turned 18 in 1972. The war ended on March 29, 1973 (earlier actually in January, but that was when the troops left). He would have turned 18 just as the war was ending or, possibly, just afterwards.

It's possible he was a Vietnam war vet (if he's really 64 now), but not very likely.
Excellence is an art won by training and habituation. We do not act rightly because we have virtue or excellence, but rather we have those because we have acted rightly. We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

If he served at any time during that entire era he is considered a "Vietnam War era veteran," like my brothers, neither of whom served in 'Nam. I am a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary based on my one brother's service (he was stationed in SK). The other served in the National Guard stateside for six years. It's possible that the media did not refer correctly to Mr. Phillips' service by including "era" in the descriptor.

Either way, the OP is just a typical Reichwinger's attempt to discredit the victim of a dishonorable attack by one of his ilk.

    It’s possible.
I’m 63. When I was 17 it was the last year they had the birthday draft.

The question of Philips service is a distraction.

The whole ‘story’ was a distraction intended to take the heat off the Buzzfeed debacle. News Fakers look out for one another.

Probably shared a foxhole with Senator Dick Blumenthal.

May 17, 2010 - Blumenthal, a Democrat of Connecticut who is running for the Senate, told veterans he “served in Vietnam.” But he did not.

Phillips never claimed to have served in Vietnam. That’s been the claim of others.

His claim is that he was a “Vietnam time” vet.
