Facebook has been accused of pumping out fake news after running political advertisements claiming endangered animals were being threatened by Brexit.
The social media giant was paid hundreds of thousands of pounds by Britain’s two most prominent Remain campaign groups to stir up support for a second referendum.
Adverts posted by the Remain group Best for Britain feature orang-utans with the claim that the great apes are under threat because Britain “plans to reverse” an EU commitment to “introduce a ban on palm oil... in return for corporate trade deals”.
The series of orang-utan adverts has been posted 32 times since November and has been viewed at least seven million times. Best for Britain has also posted dire warnings on the future of sea turtles over the use of plastic straws and bluefin tuna over allowing ‘big game fishing’ if Britain leaves the EU.
Michael Gove, the Environment Secretary, said last night: “This is the same old scaremongering from the same people who didn’t want us to leave the EU. It’s not true that plastic straws and stirrers will be allowed after Brexit – in fact we announced a ban before the EU and they are playing catch up. It’s not true that the EU is planning to ban palm oil, in fact the UK already goes further than the EU.”
A Government source added: “These are desperate smears from people who are seeking to overturn the referendum result. Remain campaigners should withdraw these adverts and apologise for pumping out fake news on Facebook.”
. . .
A Best For Britain spokesman said: “We welcome the support of our patrons, especially the thousands of people who have chipped in small amounts to support our work.”

Let's face it. The Brexit deal was like people voting for Trump, ... no one thought it would ever happen.

It was the orang-utans. doubtless, who promised to spend untold stolen millions on the NHS when they got Brexit and Christmas every day. They deserve what they get, clearly!
The EU is designed to pool capital in Germany. Tearing down the barriers was so people would buy more German goods and borrow money from German controlled finance. The Europeans just don't notice the sucking sound of Berlin. Germany has a back up currency ready to go for when the wheels fall off and they can ditch the Euro and keep the cash in their banks.

You know, I wasn't going to mention this, I didn't think it was appropriate, and possibly could be offensive, but ...
... my Grandmother, who is of Irish/Scot descent, and other than teaching me how to play Chinese Checkers, once told me (at about 5 years of age) "We hate the English". Now, she never told me why or anything about that nor did she bring it up again .......................... but after listening to YOU, it's ALL starting to become CLEAR now.

My parents were Irish ffs!! So stick that where the Sun don't shine!! I worked for T-Mobile for thirteen years and Northern Ireland was part of my territory. I can say that I've been to every county in Ireland, both North and South, I doubt you've ever been there even once. In my experience the Irish don't have much time for the Welsh, they find them to be a miserable lot on the whole.
