How do you know that, anchovies, since the design and construction materials that Obama favored aren't mentioned in the article?

In addition to the 2013 bill that DEMOCRAT Shutdown Schumer sponsored and voted for, take a look at this:

Clinton, Obama, Schumer, Boxer, Feinstein, Biden voted YEA

On October 26, 2006, U.S. President George W. Bush signed the Secure Fence Act of 2006 (Pub.L. 109–367) into law stating, “This bill will help protect the American people. This bill will make our borders more secure."

The bill was introduced on Sep. 13, 2006 by Peter T. King (R-NY).

In the House of Representatives, the Fence Act passed 283–138 on September 14, 2006.

On September 29, 2006 – the Fence Act passed in the Senate 80–19.

It makes no difference what a barrier is made out of. Not for this discussion anyway. It is the principle.

None that I know of, because they don't want to stop illegals from walking around partial fences. IMO.

Would you support a steel fence spanning the entire southern border?

    Answer me, cum gargler.

Dems rely on their constituents having very short attention spans. In all honesty it works to keep them in office!

Obama used to want illegal immigration to stop, so did Hillary, so did Blowjob Bill, and so did Shutdown Schumer.

I suspect that they rely on the ability of their constituents to employ highly selective situational ethics, too, Cap'n.

Shutdown Schumer's 2013 Border Security Act, the "Southern Border Fencing Strategy" included $8 billion for "border fencing."

If you want to believe exactly what trump has said all along, then it does make a difference, just like saying that Mexico would pay for the wall.

The concept of the Wall did not click right away with the candidate. “Initially, Trump seemed indifferent to the idea,” writes Green. “But in January 2015, he tried it out at the Iowa Freedom Summit ... ‘One of his pledges was, ‘I will build a Wall,’ and the place just went nuts,’ said Nunberg. Warming to the concept, Trump waited a beat and then added a flourish that brought down the house. ‘Nobody,’ he said, ‘builds like Trump.’”

The idea for building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border came from political consultants seeking a way to keep Donald Trump’s mind focused on illegal immigration. A reasonable observer might ask if that is a good reason for a wall to be the basis of U.S. immigration policy.

Think outside the box. Democrats used to be very good at that. It would nice if they got back to it.

Was it a good idea when DEMOCRATS voted for a border fence (that hasn't worked very well)?

The idea for the wall came from Roger Stone who wanted a buzzword for Trump to repeat and expound on.

The only ones playing games here are those focusing on minutia instead of what something actually accomplishes. Democrats wanted barriers to keep people out of this country long before Trump. Fact is fact.
