Since he passed four years ago not much of anything. You?

For the Christmas weekend, Saturday-Tuesday, my wife and I went to a party on Friday night at our local dance club then drove up to the mountain cabin late. Very little traffic so that was the good part. Snow started falling at about elevation 3000 and we arrived with 2" of snow in the driveway. On Saturday morning I got the snow thrower going and cleared the driveway of 6" of heavy snow. It was a "first gear" snow, for those familiar with operation of a snow thrower. Then we went skiing and the snow was terrific of course.

My wife had an appointment in Boone on Saturday afternoon so I dutifully drove her there then went to the Restore to donate some used exterior sconces that I had replaced over the summer. Then I waited in line at Starbucks for an overpriced cup of coffee. I picked up my wife then we went to the new Publix and purchased veggies and stuff for the Christmas meal that we had scheduled for Sunday. They had the best blueberries and green beans there- amazing quality. Prices not so bad, much less expensive for the Publix we have at home. I had brought the cooler to put the stuff in, we went to Saturday Mass then drove back to the cabin and had a quiet dinner.

Our daughter and her BF drove up from Charleston and arrived 2am Sunday morning. I stayed up to see them in then woke up well after sunrise to a nice breakfast, did a little skiing late morning and then hunkered down to cook. I turned the Weber gas grill on high just after lunch time. The turkey was still a bit frozen so I thawed it in cool water in the sink. We then prepped it and I put it in a disposable roaster pan with a steel rack and onto the grill, turned off the center burner and the other two to medium. One or two minor adjustments over a three to four hour period kept it at 310-325 degrees.

My old cook book says that the thickest part of the thigh should be at 185. Google says 165. My son gave me a remote thermometer so I inserted the probe after about two hours. 165 came and the red pop button on the breast stayed put so I watched my thermometer climb to 170, then 175, then 180. It started to approach 185 so I turned the grill off, brought the bird inside on the counter, covered it with foil then a towel and let it rest while the rest of the meal was prepared. After about 15 minutes I uncovered it, the button had popped and it was done to perfection.

So Sunday was our big meal and we had turkey and 'fixins' for the rest of the long weekend.

We went to Christmas Vigil mass on Monday late afternoon. The church was packed of course with mostly welcomed strangers. That evening we exchanged gifts. Christmas morning was lazy day, and our daughter left mid afternoon for their long drive.

    Doubtful.
When USF finds out 'Dark Soul' is praising 'Bourbon', there's*going to be hell to pay. (I'm starting to feel sorry for DS already)
