you are all very happy making cookies, you just have a little bit of penis envy. some of you think you want to be men and play with our toys, but you would find out very quickly politics is icky and mean and you would rather be home in the kitchen. it is your happiest state. Us men know best.

If we are being brutally honest, yes.

Boomers had their chance to run things, and look where they got us.

It's time to graciously step aside and cede leadership to the next generation.

My point is that it's the (white) Boomer generation that is preventing progress on these ideas.

It was Boomers who said we had to cut taxes.
It was Boomers who said we had to deregulate.
It was Boomers who canonized Wall Street
It was Boomers who lionize the stock market.
It was Boomers who ignored climate change.
It was most white Boomers who opposed Civil Rights.
It was Boomers who said we had to accommodate religious beliefs.
It was Boomers who were "Generation Me" whose guiding philosophy was "he who dies with the most toys, wins" and "greed is good".
It was Boomers who gave us Reagan
It was Boomers who gave us Bush the Dumber.
It was Boomers who gave us Trump.

Since 1964, Democrats have not won a majority of white voters in a national election. What does that tell you about the Boomer generation that has foisted its leadership on us to disastrous results?

And they were on my side before I was born? Since when? Didn't Reagan utterly sweep himself (and Bush the Elder) to victory on the votes of Boomers?

It was Clinton, a Boomer, who gave us DADT. It was Obama, a Gen Xer, who repealed it.

Like I said, their votes are welcome but their influence within the Democratic party is not.

    it wasn't just boomers dude

the generations before us were voting back then too

and they were all split mostly into two parties

the right leaning party have cheated Democrats out of their rights to vote for decades

you are blaming boomer Democratic voters for being cheated for decades

This nation has not been a full democracy for decades due to the republican party

if you are going to blame the boomers who are Democrats for that then you are just as bad as the people who blame black voters for NOT voting while ignoring the cheating the republican party does to them

Fact check: are older Americans really more likely to vote Republican?

I see this as reflective of our foreign policy during the Boomer generation too; the inability to let go.

Let go of our military presence around the world; whenever we commit troops to something we never bring those troops back.

I see the same situation with Boomers here; their time has come and gone, the results are not positive, so it's time for them to let go.

I mean, based on the data in the link, the last 5 elections have seen Boomers vote GOP.

That translates to a 19 percentage point lead for Republicans among the oldest Americans. In 2008 it was 21 percentage points, and in 2004 it was just 9 percentage points. In other words, though this trend has long existed, the size of it depends on other factors too – factors like which candidates are standing for election.
Yet in none of those elections did a majority of Boomers ever once vote for the Democrat, which is the point. A 9-point margin is still significant when 75% of them turnout to vote. And that was in 2004 when John Kerry, a Vietnam Veteran and Boomer, was on the ticket.

I'm not saying ALL Boomers are bad. I'm just saying their time as an influential voice in Democratic policy needs to come to an end.

I have no problem letting go of our military presence around the world. I also embrace the younger people to politics, but when you let people run things with no experience, it can lead to dire results at times. Example, the Trump administration.

Experience is one thing; bad experience is wholly another. I could have the longest resume in the world, but if there's nothing good to speak of from that resume, why would anyone hire me?

You wouldn't hire a manager with a lifetime losing record for a baseball team and expect that manager to take the team to the World Series, would you?

So why do that for government?

The government isn’t a total failure.

I guess it depends to whom you're speaking.

Boomer policy certainly hasn't succeeded. Unless you consider staggering debt, indefinite foreign occupations, massive wealth inequality, and overheating planet as successes?
