Remember Al Capone! With really powerful criminals, tax returns are often the only way to show them up.

From the article in the OP:

Democrats have argued that Trump's tax returns are crucial in determining whether his sprawling business operations present a conflict of interest.
Sound to me like they're not after Trump's returns, they want to see corporate records.
Don't be afraid to see what you see

Depends on the Spanish weather: very changeable! Used certainly to be 'mainly' when I was under sentence of Elocution!

    Hello Stretch,

Quote Originally Posted by Stretch View Post
That's an old argument. As I've said before...I don't care about any president's tax returns. I haven't cared since 1995 when they started this new "tradition", not "rule". I don't care (to the point of arguing and fighting) about the past in someone's life unless of course it's discovered that they fed live kittens to alligators or were serial murderers. I don't care about the endless news reports and forum discussions that will inevitably ensue regarding the self righteous having opinions on how much a man did or did not give to charity. Tax returns and all their intricacies, details, under payments or over payments are between a citizen, the IRS, their lawyers and auditors.
Go for it...get his tax returns so you will have the next few years of something else to complain about. If they're produced, you'll hate him. If they're not produced, you'll hate him. Keep the blind hate going.
It doesn't matter whether you care to see his tax returns or not. Most of the country wants to see them. We have the right, and we are going to get them.

It is very troubling that you don't care to hold the President to his word. That's called giving him a big fat free pass on lying.

Now that there is so much concern about him breaking the emoluments clause, using the office for profit, it has become imperative that we see those returns. And we shall. Since you don't care, this shouldn't bother you. And if seeing those returns reveals dirty dealing then we need to know about that and take appropriate measures. No man is above the law.

And another thing. You can tell yourself that I 'hate' if that helps you rationalize your own view. I assure you: it is absolutely not true. It couldn't be further from the truth. I don't hate anybody. I love being a human and being part of humanity. I love humanity and my fellow humans. I love people. That's why I prefer to respect others and only wish to interface with those who can engage in respectful civil discourse.

What I feel for the President is not hatred at all; but sorrow and shame.

I am sorry that he has screwed his life up so bad and I think it is a shame that his message has resonated with so many Americans. He is obviously a very unhappy man. It is sad. He is caught in an endless loop of trying to get richer than he already is, and that has become his life. The sad part of it is that it doesn't matter how much wealth he accumulates, he can never be satisfied, never be happy. He goes from one trophy wife to another and can't be happy with any of them. He always has to have another attractive woman. What he is attracted to is the outward beauty, the imagery. Looking attractive in pictures is not contentment. He completely overlooks the companionship possible with an equal life partner. His ego prevents him from recognizing anyone else as his equal.

I see a very sad man who is obsessed with wealth accumulation. What does he do with it? What is his pleasure? Insulting people, cheating on his relationships and playing golf seem to be his only pleasures. He doesn't even want to spend time with any of his children until they are grown (or being developing breasts.) It is shameful that we have selected this immature mind as our leader. Republicans forced this upon us by inflating an image of Hillary as some kind of horrible person when the reality is she has devoted her life to public service as Trump devoted his to getting rich.

There is a reason that no matter how much money he accumulates he will never be accepted into the inner circles of old money. He is 'new money' and he is shunned. His 'new money' is highly suspect to be dirty money, and we are going to find out. He should have left well enough alone and never run for President. But he was so bored with the shallowness of wealth accumulation that his ego would not allow him to be content with it. Not that taking on the most stressful job in the world has helped him. Pathetic, sad, and sorrowfully shameful. The USA will be far better off as soon as he is gone.
