    I don't care as long as they don't try to charge me in Michigan for sending a text to someone in California.......

    It isn't per text tax but if you pay attention to all your charges on your bills, eventually you will see yourself be taxed for something stupid. I used to have to pay Montana a quarter a month with my old business carrier when I don't live in Montana, don't know anybody in Montana, and never call Montana.

    I just assumed the company had some ties to the state or some center or facility there. IDK. It was a bit odd.
