Then, after acknowledging that MOST PEOPLE are not going to be able to earn a living, we have to figure out what to do about that.

As I see it, mostly it will reduce to variations of two themes:

One: Allow most of the people to starve or freeze to death and be rid of them.

Two: Provide for the needs and wants of the people who do not work.

I understand there are many people here who would much prefer the former to the latter. The forum is dominated by the American conservatives...so that is a given.
One thing you're forgetting is American conservatives are uneducated cracka goyums. How are uneducated crackas going to survive in a world where a college degree is the equivalent of a high school diploma back in the day? Us white cracka goyums are killing ourselves on a daily basis so we won't even be around to starve or freeze to death. It's educated liberals such as yourself Frank who are the future and the ones who will create and control the jobs. Do you think volstruck, CFM or TDAK are creating any companies or have any control over where people work?

No disrespect Frank but you're old. That's why the future scares you. You came up in a very different world. White people like you had it good while you oppressed others. Now we have a globalized workforce and that's not good for the uneducated. Good news though Frank, the world has survived this long and isn't going to go away now no matter how scary it may look.

That's all you've guno? You fit in well with the other bigots/racists on the board, you can speak about one thing and that's it. You started this thread and you're not even capable of continuing a discussion on it.

This board is made up of mostly baby boomers and it shows. Discussions of our economic future is very scary for many of you.

While gay rights, and a Black President, are signs of change, so is the growing number of homeless especially that of children, the rise in drug addiction, the growing gap in wealth, and numerous other examples, tell a different story.

Trump has no desire to return to a time when income equality was more prevalent, where upward opportunities were available, etc. Not sure why you think discrimination is the only measure of the benefits of living in the country. I would suggest you google Report on Economically Distressed Communiti8es for a better idea. Perhaps you feel that living in a community where 3/4's of their drinking water is wasted is being better off then we were before. We can give 1 Trillion dollars to the wealthy, but we can't afford to fix our infrastructure. That is greed,, nothing more:

I don't care about Trump. This is all much bigger than the President. I'm well aware of the economic conditions of the rust belt and many communities that have been left behind. Technological change is not easy and does not come without disruption. I live in San Francisco and have worked in the Silicon Valley which is the heart of where this change comes from. There are old people in SF who long for the "old days" of the City and not the tech center we've become.

But look around the world, and we can use the word b here, billions have been brought out of poverty over the past half century because of freer markets and technological advancements. That of course doesn't mean we aren't challenge free and don't have issues because of course we do and you list some of them. That will never go away. The ultimate point is more time spent looking back at what was is less time focusing on the future and what it will become.

Doesn't look scary for me...I'm gonna be dead soon.

But the decent paying jobs are NOT GOING TO BE HERE for the people who are alive.

So...either we provide for people who cannot (or should not) work...or we say, "Fuck 'em, let 'em die."

No Frank, it's not like that. Technological change brings disruption yes but America isn't all of a sudden going to have millions of people dying on the streets.

I would hope not...which is why I hope American conservatism dies the well-deserved death it has been courting.

Ok, except the tech world is run by liberals. Do you think it's a bunch of uneducated cracka goyums running Google, Facebook, Apple, Netflix, Amazon etc.? I'll give you a hint, it's not. And here in California where we are home to many of these companies we have the highest poverty rate in the country. So claiming American conservatism as the cause of the technological disruption we all are experiencing is to ignore reality.

    Don't blow a gasket, ca.

What I am saying is that American conservatives are more likely to vote "Fuck 'em, let 'em die" than..."We can provide."

I'm not blowing a gasket, just stating facts.

In California we have the highest poverty rate in the country, huge inequality and we have no elected Republicans. So if it's simply a matter of electing Democrats y'all need to start doing a much better job.

It is my opinion that American conservatives are much more disposed to the notion of, "Fuck 'em, let 'e, die" than others...and that holds whether they are elected American conservatives...or just big mouth American conservatives outside of political office.
