Exclamation Trump On Coming Debt Crisis: 'I Won't Be Here' When It Blows Up

Since the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump’s aides and advisers have tried to convince him of the importance of tackling the national debt.

Sources close to the president say he has repeatedly shrugged it off, implying that he doesn’t have to worry about the money owed to America’s creditors—currently about $21 trillion—because he won’t be around to shoulder the blame when it becomes even more untenable.

The friction came to a head in early 2017 when senior officials offered Trump charts and graphics laying out the numbers and showing a “hockey stick” spike in the national debt in the not-too-distant future. In response, Trump noted that the data suggested the debt would reach a critical mass only after his possible second term in office.

“Yeah, but I won’t be here,” the president bluntly said, according to a source who was in the room when Trump made this comment during discussions on the debt.

Seems every President and Congress felt the same way by their actions

But now your democrat party controlled House can reign in the debt. They have the power of the purse

Where do you think Pelousy is going to cut spending first?

I think we all know the next crash is merely a matter of time. And yes, the aristocracy will be coming for another socialist bailout.

He should be called out for it except he shares the same attitude of those who come before him. It's a universal trait among politicians, worry about the here and now and forget the rest as I'll be out of office by that time. Look at our pension problem on the state level and entitlement problems on the national level for a great example.

Now we have Nancy Pelosi in charge. Take a look at the deficits the four years she was speaker during the aught's.

Missing the point, we are now in an economic upturn, usually a period when the President calls for action on deficits/debt, Clinton would be the best recent example. Instead, Trump did the exact opposite, he added trillions to the debt in just two years with his spending and tax stimulus for the rich.

Point being, he looked to score quick political points regardless of future consequence, "bourbon's" interpretation being that he did it knowing the end and could care less

Will you be pissed if he does like Iceland did ... and refuses to bailout the banks?

Oops, ... I forgot, you don't actually engage in debate
"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that's a storybook, man."
    — Joe Biden on Obama.

Socialism is just the modern word for monarchy.

D.C. has become a Guild System with an hierarchy and line of accession much like the Royal Court or priestly classes.

Private citizens are perfectly able of doing a better job without "apprenticing".

    Clinton?

It wasn't BJ's doing, ... the first repub congress in over 40 years forced him to address it.

Describe how Obama shrunk the national debt and by how much. Please provide exact numbers. You can even use Wikipedia if you like

Are you saying that Obama was not in an economic upturn during his 8 years?

    I agree.
