Why not strengthen laws that punish people with guns?
Felon gets caught with a gun...15 years in prison at 100%
Second offence life
Someone diagnosed or under doctor's care for mental problems gets caught with gun 10 years at 100%
Second offence life
Get caught with gun commiting ANY crime, 15 years
Second offence life
Get caught selling gun without doing background check ...15 years
Get caught carrying a gun without a CCW ..5 years at 100%
Second offence 25 years
In a known street gang get caught with a gun..20 years

lol
You RW barrel-strokers sure are consistent in your willful ignorance, I'll say that.
Despite what you mouth breathers claim, nobody has ever said removal of certain weapons will prevent all gun deaths. But strict gun control works, if you'd take the time to examine other western cultures. But, your almost-sexual fixation on that inanimate object prevents you from doing so.
Fuck the hodge podge of state and local laws when just driving a few miles gets you easy access where gun laws are lax. One set of comprehensive, federal laws that apply everywhere. Make ANY gun violation a federal one. No mercy on sentencing. When you go away for 20 years, you won't be possessing a gun for 20 years. Harsher penalties for gun dealers who sell to those they know they shouldn't be.
Strict limits on the number, type, accessories, etc. As I said, you don't see any mass shootings with machine guns, do you, Jethro? Why do you suppose that is?
Such in-depth background check that they will know when you take a shit. Including social media to see if you've exhibited any abnormal behavior, hate speech, etc. I don't want you to even sell your peashooter to your crazy Uncle Bob. If you do, off to the federal prison for you.
Product liability for manufacturers who market their weapons claiming their massive firepower, etc. When was the last time you saw a cigarette commercial, Jethro?
No more open carry. Heller said you can have a weapon in the home for self-protection. Fine. Carry that peashooter out and you'd better invest in vaseline for your stay with Bubba.
There are more, but that's a start.
The idea, Jethro, is to gradually dry up or at least minimize accessibility to the types of weapons that we see being used so frequently these days.
Now, go ahead and say something stupid about the 2nd Amendment, of which most of you barrel-strokers are completely ignorant.
After the fact, individuals bent on murderimg others aren't effected by deterrence
There are three variables in every mass shooting; the shooter, the target, and the weapon. As much as we try, we can never identify who the next shooter will be, nor can we predict the target. The only variable that we can have influence on is the weapon that makes it all possible.
The key is access to guns, which in America is way to easy
When we passed DUI law, it targeted people not limit the alcohol available! And the law worked
If you believe that man is good, there is no need for government. If you believe that man is bad, you dare not create one.
