Hey Numbskull! That is the fed's job- to raise and lower Member Bank Interest rates according to and reflecting Stock Market total quarterly gains and losses.
The reason why rates go up is to keep people motivated and make it financially rewarding to keep and maintain personal Bank Savings accounts. Interest rates going up is not always a bad thing.

As I said before volumes are relatively stable and low so it isn't the end of the world. Just pumping and dumping as usual. The DJIA is way over-valued and is not representative of the entire market. Every day there will be winners and losers.
