John Lennon said "Women are the Niggers of the world"!
That may be true- especially in Donald Trump's world!
Not a rhetorical question, on what basis are you making that judgement? I find it difficult to believe that today is the same as a time when the best and brightest women in the country went into teaching because they couldn't go into anything else. The best and brightest women go run companies today, they don't become teachers.

For the same reason that a lot of professions are better now than ever. We have more knowledge, more tools to educate, better research methods and ability to share knowledge, etc,.
Teachers now can now create lesson plans and develop teaching methods , have them peer reviewed for effectiveness, and share them with other educators in a fraction of the time.
Technology has given educators and students vast advantages in doing research so educators now are far more knowledgeable and savvy in both doing and teaching research.
The data and information we now have in psychometric evaluation and data is light years ahead of where it was a generation ago, which is an invaluable tool to modern educators. We are now far better at evaluating outcomes than we have ever been. That means we are far better at assessing teaching methods empirically than ever before.
That’s not to mention the mind boggling diversity of material available now for educators to use.
So yea... Educators, as a profession, by any objective measure or metric are better now than they have ever been.

I always find it amazing to see so many women on construction sites in SE Asia, especially Thailand, where women are steel fixers, pour concrete and put up shuttering.
