Kansas is the most surprising to me. That state is blood red Republican.

I chalk the GOP Kansas losses up to Trumpism, and to the Republicans scheme of trickle down tax cuts for the rich disaster.

It shows performance matters. Connecticut had a Rep Gov as did Maryland. California even nominally had one a decade ago. It shows blue or red aside people still demand performance.

It was big enough to wash the little Republican gnats out of control of the House.

    Wasn't it?

If we look only at a president’s first midterm cycle – in other words, after a president has been in office for two years, as opposed to six – the average between 1914 and 2014 is nearly 33 seats. If we look only at Republican presidents, the average is about 27 seats.

With these metrics in mind, 2018 doesn’t look great for Trump’s GOP.

This year’s Republican losses, barring major surprises in the final tallies, are higher than the historical average and the worst for a GOP president since the 1974 midterms in the aftermath of Watergate.

The exceedingly Republican-friendly Senate landscape notwithstanding, it’s tough to see this as anything but a significant setback for the president and his party.

    No blue wave?

Really? With over 40 republican congressmen "quitting".....the left managed only to get a net gain of a few seats while losing seats in the Senate (the body that appoints scotus judges). Yeah.....hell of a victory. After 2 years of buyers remorse leading up to the 2020 elections....how easy will it be for the republicans to sweep every branch of government again? Lets see what the DO NOTHING CONGRESS gets done over the next 2 years. Hating Trump is not an accomplishment....its a disease.

They think it’s no wave because we didn’t take the Senate. Republicans are more vulnerable in 2020, the Resistence is already focusing on then.
