    Default Verizon lays off 44,000

Verizon Lays Off 44,000, Transfers 2,500 More IT Jobs To Indian Outsourcer Infosys

On 10/27 I learned from a Chinese web that Verizon will have a big lay-off, 40,000. That's a big news, I googled it, found it was a news three weeks ago. Yet it seems not much people know it. Maybe they will let it out after mid term election. What a censorship.

They are offering buy outs i.e. paying people to quit. Not really that big of a thing.

this is hard. I can kinda see fighting for manufacturing jobs because once they are back they are hard to remove because of all the sunk costs (which is why they are also having difficulty moving back)

but these are call center jobs mostly. You literally rent a space and rent everything. From PC's, to tables, chairs etc. Nothing is actually owned by the company.

New Zealand had to enact legislation to prevent the hedge fund crowd from buying up too much land for their escape fantasies when it all goes tits up. To question is not hate. It's required of humanity.

They are hoping to cut costs there to help finance their upgrade to 5G.

Capitalism somehow just never weens itself off of predation and cannibalism.

Paying people to quit is neither predation or cannibalism. It is their choice. They can get up to 14 months pay just to leave.

Sweet Jesus, Mother of God. Are you an imbecile? Look, you take 40,000 Humanoids, you replace them with Machines, the Machines can work 24/7 ... they don't need 'Lunch Breaks' and 'Bathroom Breaks' and 'Sick Days', and always whining about MORE money. $7/hr. is more than enough to live on, I mean, how much money do they really need?
Think of the Bottom Line, ... your Quarterly Statements.
