Gallo-Gallardo was released in March by the sheriffs office after prosecutors dismissed assault allegations against him.
ICE placed a civil detainer hold on Gallo-Gallardo while he was in custody for the purpose of starting deportation proceedings. The sheriffs department didn’t honor the request because of sanctuary laws in the state.

Gallo-Gallardo stabbed his wife multiple times and dumped her body in a ditch.
