Cliff's Notes version: complete meltdown.

They're not going after Trump but...they're going after Trump. They're still trying to understand why Trump won in 2016, it couldn't have been prog arrogance...nope, no way.“One of the issues that resonates everywhere that I think Democrats will take a very quick action on is around democracy reform,” Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), who serves as vice chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told The Daily Beast in an interview. “Really overall, I think we’re going to see a lot of accountability measures, looking at what has happened, looking at what the Trump administration has done, looking at the emoluments clause, looking at personal gain. There will be I think a lot of hearings around exactly what’s happening and trying to get control of the government again so it works for the people again.”

Democrats could definitely fail to take the House.
It’s not something I would bank on but it’s a distinct possibility. Whatever the polls are saying the numbers are likely inflated on the democrats side. So it’s a distinct possibility.
And it’s a must win for them. If democrats fail to take the House it will be a decade since the party has won a national election. And if that doesn’t force them to recalibrate—Nothing will.

Exactly a year ago I was sure they were right in thinking they would lol.
Here’s the thing though: even if they do take the House it’s only one election and what they do with it matters greatly. Going after Trump for something/anything is only popular with the Blue Crowd. Average people are sick of Russia-Russia-Russia and many of them suspect the whole thing is a hoax. Millions of voters are more than satisfied with the economy. Trump has failed to give democrats any daylight on foreign policy since he’s avoided any missteps. In fact it can be argued Trump has done an excellent job there.
So basically, democrats will be trying to take down a popular president—or at least a president who has put forth successful policies.
And that is NOT the way you win the next national election.

If the Democrats do not take the House...
...our Republic is a thing of the past.
The classlessness...the demagoguery of Donald Trump MUST BE repudiated by the electorate.
If the infection that is Donald Trump has spread so far that this repudiation is not clearly and unambiguously displayed in tomorrow's election...we have failed as a people.
We can only hope that enough of us have not been infected by this hideous disease.
We shall see.
As of today...I am not sure how things will go.

It would be the same as when Trump won. Bewilderment, depression. Bye bye Mss American Pie....Cry in beer and forget about politics.
I remember years past when it was cool to say you wanted a guy as President who wasn't an insider and just did his own thing. Well, we got that guy and now you people are trying...unsuccessfully...to paint him as Hitler and his supporters as brown shirts. Bold strategy, let's see if it works out for you.
As I said before, when Obama dictated tranny bathroom policy to elementary schools I thought that was the end of the Republic. Different standards I guess.

The GOP possibly keep the House, but most unlikely.
Trump is not Hitler; he is a Hitler wanna-be. Hitler was much more intelligent and a much, much, much better, more effective speaker than Trump.
I personally do not paint his supporters as brown shirts. I "paint them" as the useful idiots they are.
Tomorrow will tell us a lot. The Dems MUST take control of the House...or all bets are off.
Lastly...I love granola.

I wouldn't put the chances of the human race surviving two hundred years from now at more than 10% as it is. If the Democrats don't win the House tomorrow I'd be only half as optimistic.

Good catch. I shoulda been more clear.
By "all bets are off"...I mean that "all bets that the Republic survives our generation's custody of it...are off."
Previously I would have thought that "the Republic survives our generation's custody of it"...was a huge odds-on favorite...a prohibitive favorite.
If the Republicans retain control of the House, however, the odds become a "pick 'em"...and probably favor a "the Republic goes out of business."
The punters expression for that is, "all bets are off."
