Default Government response to Hurricane Michael

As soon as the winds died down and it was safe for first responders they were on the scene going house to house in the most devastated areas. In less than a week power has been restored to about 95%. I submitted my FEMA loan app and in less than 4 hours I had an adjuster on the phone getting details of my damage. He told me they learned a lot from Katrina. Thus far the response I have seen has been excellent. This is strictly a non partisan issue and makes me proud to see the true American spirit come out.

Our local government has done well. A week after the storm there is still one very bad area they are collapsed upon trying to get power back up after having gotten it back for most people. Still a ton of damage. A road off my neighborhood will probably be closed 6 months as the flood dislodged a giant concrete pipe and the roadway went with it. a few hundred water rescues were carried out during the height of the storm due to stranded motorists driving into flooded roadways like idiots. We have a deal with a few other cities in the state for these sorts of emergencies, so we have other localities' crews in helping get things back on a manageable footing.

Didn't realize this was a thing, but people on SNAP can get replacement benefits to help for all the food they lost due to the outages and such.

Virginia right under where the hurricane hit the cold front which collision dumped an inch of rain every 10 minutes on us for well over an hour in addition to the forecast rain on either side of that train wreck. We basically had no warning that was about to happen. It shut down almost the entire power grid among other things.

I hope you didn't suffer too much damage.

Florida's been good to hurricane victims. When Jeb was guv, every person (not just SNAP folks) in the affected areas received $90 for food replacement and last year with Scott it was $110.
Abortion rights dogma can obscure human reason & harden the human heart so much that the same person who feels
empathy for animal suffering can lack compassion for unborn children who experience lethal violence and excruciating
    pain in abortion.

Unborn animals are protected in their nesting places, humans are not. To abort something is to end something
which has begun. To abort life is to end it.

We have been lucky to always have competent Governors in Florida. Can you imagine a hurricane with someone like Andrew Gillum at the helm? No preparation or planning.

It would be Katrina all over again.....

The adjuster said FEMA learned a lot from Katrina and made a lot of changes.
