So we made older years more comfortable with a program to save them . Much of social security goes to those who cannot work.. yes, hard guys, there are people who get injured and sick who are unable to work for long times. There are also families whose bread winner dies. They also qualify for help. That oddly enough is what saved paul Ryans fmilly when his dad died young. Now he wants to kill it.
Social security will pay forever. it just will pay precentage if it falls short. It was estnblished so it could not hit the treasury to pay shortfalls. The payments wiould just get smaller. however since it pays out of money collected from paychecks, even Repubs can understand it will still be able to pay . No it cannot go bankrupt and cannot go to no payments.
It seems like we've been over this it seems a zillion times with conservatives. SS is an independent self funded program that has always ran on a surplus. It is not nor ever has been a driver to our national debt.

The main drivers of our national debt are Medicare-Medicaid, Military Spending and Public Pensions for Government Employees and Retired Military. The SS surplus is projected to run out in about 30 years. It would easily be fixed by raising the cap on the payroll tax or simply raising the payroll tax.

That's never been my argument. Based on the amount of money that FedCo is ripping off taxpayers with this scam, it is inconceivable that it could fail to make the relatively small payments that it promises.

It hurts the poor way more than it does the wealthy though. So no surprise that the Democrats love it so.

Hey shit-for-brains; REVENUE is up after the tax cuts you moron. Spending has outpaced revenue. That's how you get deficit you math challenged dullard.

Trump addressed that today with his cabinet asking them all to come back with budgets that are 5% lower.

Do away with SS and you do away with life for millions who could not afford to stay alive otherwise.

That being said. I'm glad they're trumping this out just before the midterms.

It is an extremely well-run organization. It allows the poor to survive. the wealthy don't even need it. It was created by the old people living in horrible need. Some Americans actually cared about that. yes, the Dems do care about the poor and the sick. That is bad to Repubs, but that is how bad we are. It covers people who get crippled in accidents and illneses. helps poor children whose parents died and left them penniless. Yeah, we should not do that.

New Polling on Social Security, Medicare, and Prescription Drug Prices
Voters overwhelmingly support expanding Social Security and Medicare, as well as taking federal action to lower drug prices.

(Washington, DC) — This week, Social Security Works released new data from Public Policy Polling that shows registered voters are far more likely to back candidates who support expanding Social Security, expanding Medicare, and taking federal action to lower prescription drug prices.

84% of voters are more likely to back candidates who support taking federal action to lower prescription drug prices, vs. 11% who are less likely
66% of voters are more likely to back candidates who support expanding and increasing Social Security benefits, vs. 18% who are less likely
64% of voters are more likely to back candidates who support expanding Medicare, vs. 22% who are less likely

“Anyone seeking elected office needs to fight for what the people want,” said Alex Lawson, Executive Director of Social Security Works. “Americans will flock to candidates who run on expanding, not cutting, Social Security and Medicare. Families crushed by prescription drug prices will enthusiastically support political leaders who take on big pharma’s greed. ”

My neighbor Jeffery explained to me, if god caused all white-wall tires to vanish from the cosmos his pickup truck wouldn't have any tires at all.

So I explained to Jeffery he could have saved $10.oo or $20.oo by buying black-wall tires, and then when god made that improvement, it wouldn't have mattered to Jeffery at all.

U.S. federal government has functioned as a wedge against families.

In generations past, family members used to take care of one another. But now that government has insinuated itself into it, we don't have to take care of gramma. Uncle Sam will take care of her.

His only want is exercise more and more personal power." smb / purveyor of fact 18/03/18

No bodies know how to spend YOUR $money better than hundreds of federal legislators you've never met.
