One should not trust ANY media sources these days, regardless of what political bias they may have. Since we cannot know what the actual truth really is, the best we can do is to triangulate the "most likely" truth using ALL sources of media of ALL political bias. Use them all, but trust NONE. If you only rely on media sources that satisfy your confirmation bias, you will become "undereducated".

You don't have to "triangulate," read legitimate sources on either side, i.e., Wall Street Journal/Washington Post, Politico/the Hill, there are plenty, and you will get a pretty good picture of what is happening, but if you are stuck in the world of "gateway/mother jones, you are living in an illusionary reality

There are no longer legitimate sources of news, they are all biased. The names you mentioned as legitimate are nice sources of information, but it is only propaganda. They should be supplemented with gateway, mother jones, alex jones, daily kios, hannity, rachael, and everything you can get your hands on. The most dangerous media is the media that aligns with our own ideology, and you really do have to triangulate the most likely truth nowadays. It sounds like you kinda get it, but I don't think you see just how bad the "news" industry has gotten.
