If lefties have any plans to win in 2020, they will obviously need to impress both of these two people that you are referring to, and convince them enough to gain both of their votes. Lefty media polls that claim the lefty candidate is winning won't help any more than having a popularity contest will, they will need to do what is required to get the most votes- the kind that win elections.
